AMALFI GUIDE & BOOK

Furore

The "village that isn't there": houses scattered on the mountain, painted walls, steep vineyards and the famous fjord under the coast-road bridge.

DON'T MISS

Fiordo di Furore

45 min

A narrow gorge between the rocks reaching the sea under the arch of the Amalfi Drive bridge, with a tiny beach and old fishermen's houses.

The beach may be closed due to rockfall risk: check on site. The best view is from the sea.

Steps down from the road; very limited parking.

Muri dipinti

1 hour

Along the village roads façades and walls are decorated by artists: this is why Furore is also called the painted village.

Walk them slowly in the upper part of the village.

Sloping road with traffic.

Sentiero della Volpe Pescatrice

1.5–2 hours

A stepped trail descending from upper Furore towards the fjord, through terraces and Mediterranean vegetation.

Check first whether the trail is open; closed shoes are essential.

Steep stairs and slopes

Vigneti terrazzati

Vines grow on terraces carved out of the rock: a farming landscape unique on the coast.

Many local wineries offer visits and tastings by reservation.
